Peter to Anna Marie: “Whenever I hurt you, it’s an ‘I’m sorry’ or an accident.”
Tabetha:
“Changing table…cutting board…what’s the difference?” ๐
Peter: “Anna Marie, I have 3 head aches!”

Peter (in the tub): HOT!! Mom, the water’s hot!!
me: Look at Bethany sitting in it. She doesn’t think it is hot.
Peter: Well, she doesn’t know hot to say “hot” yet.

I wasn’t feeling very well a few days ago, so Anna decided to cheer me up. She secretly drew a cheery picture for me. I was very impressed because she usually gives some type of hint that she is making a “surprise” birthday card or picture, but this time I had no clue she was even considering it! It also made me feel special because she was thinking about me. Here is a picture of the butterfly she drew for me.
A week or so ago, I was noticing that Anna seems to have enough balance on her bike to take the training wheels off, but I wasn’t sure how I was going to convince her to try it. It turns out that a boy about her age that lives nearby took care of the convincing for me! Today she came running in the house to tell me that she had gotten on his “2 wheeler” (as she called it), and rode a long way. I went out to watch her, and sure enough she was gliding along on the “2 wheeler!” Next thing you know, she’ll be driving a car!
Saturday was a beautiful day here in Rhode Island with temperatures actually getting up into the 70’s!! So we loaded up and headed to the beach! The kids loved it, but of course most of my pictures were focused on Bethany since this was her first time to actually stick her feet (and her tongue) in the sand. Here are some of the pictures:
A cute little smile for the camera. ๐
Yes, she actually did taste the sand!
She really liked the rocks. So did I since she didn’t try to eat them! ๐
Showing off for the camera!
Bethany stares in awe at the ocean.
Today, Luke and Anna were discussing how people have to work to provide for their families. Anna’s comment was, “Oh, so some people have to do all the work, and some people are husbands.”

Well, I knew the day would come, but it came a little sooner than expected! Anna Marie has decided that she likes just “Anna” better than “Anna Marie.” The reason? The name of her best friend in Rhode Island is Hannah. We have been talking about how Anna and Hannah have the same meaning because they originated from the same word. Plus Hannah and Anna rhyme.
After “Anna” told me she wanted to change her name (or not use both names), I said, “OK, but it might take a little getting used to. I’ve called you ‘Anna Marie’ for over 7 years now.” She thought about it a minute, and then said, “Well, I guess you can keep calling me ‘Anna Marie,’ but I want anybody new I meet to call me ‘Anna.'”
I will try to start calling her “Anna.” I decided when she was very young that I would agree to the shorter name should she ever decide she liked it better. It might take a while, though. I am still adjusting to her decision that she doesn’t like being called “Banana Marie!”
Well, I guess my little girl is growing up!! Wait….haven’t I said that before?

“Mom, whenever I get married, will you come to my wedding?”
Anna Marie did not know that the bride’s mom is usually at the wedding, which makes this question all the more flattering. She wants me at her wedding, and I was given the very first invitation!! Stay tuned for more invitations to come (hopefully at least 11 years from now!).

Anna Marie and Bethany had a joint birthday party last night. As Anna Marie was opening one of her cards, Peter sat there watching her. When she pulled the card out of the envelope, he excitedly shouted with genuine surprise, “It’s a birthday card!!!!”
