Let’s Get Rid of Them!

Today Anna, Peter, and I had dentist appointments. This meant that Phillip, who loves games, was going to be left at home with no one old enough to play games with. Luke was trying to make him feel better, and this is the conversation that occurred between my two jokesters.

Luke: We’re gonna get rid of them. Doesn’t that sound fun?

Phillip: No, that doesn’t sound fun……..because they will come back.

Ten Inches Shorter

Anna has alway liked her long hair. As a matter of fact, when I have trimmed it in the past, she has begged me not to cut too much off. A little over a year ago, we learned about Locks of Love when two of her friends decided to donate their hair.

Ever since, Anna has been taking special care of her hair in order to donate to a little girl who needs it. Evidently helping another little girl was enough to convince my sweet 8 year old to cut her hair and actually be excited about it! We have no idea which little girl will get it, and have no way of finding out, but we know that some little girl somewhere will be wearing Anna’s beautiful blonde hair eventually.

If you are interested in donating to Locks of Love, read the guidelines or watch a video. If you would like to help but do not have 10 inches of hair to donate, there is also an option to give a monetary donation or sponsor an event.

Here are some pictures of Anna before and after the cut:

Journey Incomplete – Part 1

Have you ever walked down a road that was difficult, yet found yourself looking forward to walking down a similar road again? It almost sounds crazy, but I assure you it is not.

Five years ago, I began walking down one of those roads, and I am still on that same journey. It began when I looked at myself from the inside out and tried to see myself from another person’s perspective. It was mind-blowing to discover that I did not like what I saw. What? I look like THAT? me???

I knew that God was not pleased with what He saw. I also knew that He was willing to melt me down like gold and skim off the impurities. It is a painful process, but it is so absolutely worth it!

Wow! This is turning into a major blog post series! Stay tuned for more!

Favorite Post of 2008

Joanna Young at Confident Writing is doing a group writing project entitled “Simply the Best.” If you are interested in participating, here are the rules.

If you are interested in participating in Joanne’s group writing project but have no idea where to start, hop on over to Robert Hruzek’s blogapalooza to get started. This will get you started by allowing you to choose your favorite post from every month of 2008. Once you have it down to twelve, it is a bit easier to narrow it down to a single blog post.

I had a bit of a hard time choosing my favorite post because…..well….that’s a lot of writing to choose from. I almost picked A Great Mother’s Day because it has great (almost) professional pictures of my children.

Name that Kid was almost chosen because it is a great example of my life with five children. It it also helping me to remember to use my children’s names when I speak to them.

Even though the choice was hard, I like Scary Bathrooms best….barely. It is simply the best because it helps you to think like a child again. This post allows you to step into a two year old’s mind and see how he views modern technology in bathrooms.

I know what you are thinking. How do I know what it is like to be in the mind of a two year old? No, that is not my mental age. I just happen to have had 4 two year olds within the last 6 years and therefore have a bit experience with them. Six more years like the previous six, and I might actually have the mental age of a two year old! ๐Ÿ™‚

So, now that your questions are put to rest, go ahead and read my favorite post (on my blog) and then take a peek at my husband’s favorite post from his blog.

This blog has been hijacked!

Hi. This is Luke, Tabetha’s husband. She took our 11 month old to the doctor this evening and is not going to have time to blog tonight so I decided to take over for the evening.

If you are following her twitter you already know that the baby has a fever She will have to update you in the morning on the results. For now rest assured that the best mom in the world is on the job.

Have a great evening! I’ll talk to you again next time an opportunity for hijacking comes along. Until then, have fun!

Candice is Walking!!

I was afraid Candice’s fractured leg would make her a late walker, but she is too determined for that, I guess. She was already crawling and cruising with her cast on, so I really shouldn’t be surprised that she walked just 3 or 4 weeks after getting the cast removed! She actually started walking well and with purpose the day after she turned 11 months. I am a little behind with the video.

You can see in this video that Candice likes to tease a bit. When I waggled my fingers to encourage her to come to me, she waggled hers right back at me.ย She was also a bit distracted by Bethany’s encouragement. Oh, and the blur that goes in front of the camera twice during the video? That’s Peter. Fortunately, he is fast enough not to mess up the video beyond posting here on my blog! ๐Ÿ™‚

Eater of Onions

Over Thanksgiving holidays, I had this conversation with Phillip, who did not know that green bean casserole contained onions (of course, I’m not sure if french fried onions count).

Me: Phillip, you left a few onions on your plate.

Phillip: From what?

Me: From the green bean casserole.

Phillip: What?! I ate onions?! I guess I like onions then!

A Chilly Chili Evening

Anyone else notice that it is that chilly time of year? In order to celebrate the time of year, we recently ate chili for supper. Bethany got to help cook for the first time, and Candice got to eat chili for the first time. Bethany did a really good job stirring the chili, and Candice did a good job…..well…..eating it (and making a mess)! They both enjoyed themselves thoroughly! Can you tell?
