100 Things About Me – #18

I like to help, but I don’t know how! I know that sounds weird, but it is true. I have a huge desire within my heart to reach out and help others. Unfortunately,I have to be told what needs to be done to help. I want details so that I do it right, but by the time I get all the details, it would have been easier for the one giving the details to have done the task instead of telling me how to do it.

I am getting better at noticing what needs to be done and just doing it, but I always have that fear in the back of my mind that  it will be done all wrong, and that I wasn’t a help after all. And around and around we go!

100 Things About Me – #17

I highly dislike laundry, but I insist on doing it. I am weird about my laundry. I don’t like doing it but would rather do it than have someone else do it wrong. Yes, it is crazy, but it seems to be the story of my life.

I would rather do all the work myself than take the time to teach someone else to do it. Yes, this needs to change. Now that I have 5 children, it really HAS to change. It has to change for my sake, but most importantly, for the sake of my children. They must learn to do all these things that I do in order to do for themselves in the future, and I have to learn to accept a less than perfect job as they are learning. 😐

Does anyone else struggle with this one?

100 Things About Me – #16

I like to travel. We just went on a vacation that most people would consider insane! We flew to Las Vegas, not to gamble but because it is the cheapest place to fly into.  Then we left Vegas and headed on a road trip covering Nevada, California, Utah, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona.

We drove quite a bit on this trip, but I had a blast! We even discovered by experience when each of us could stay awake the longest and settled into a pattern of driving. Now, due to this heavy duty driving vacation, I have now visited 40 states!!

Believe it or not, I thoroughly enjoyed myself and the time I got to spend with my husband on our vacation! Of course, it had to end eventually, and I must say that I am looking forward to getting back into a regular routine! Tomorrow I get to jump in with both feet!

By the way, you will be hearing more about this trip, even if it means I have to interrupt my 100 things posts! But don’t worry! I have missed blogging and have a lot to share with you! Stay tuned…….

I could never bungee jump, sky dive, cliff dive, or do anything involving jumping off a high surface. I guess you could say I am not an adventurous person, but I just call it good sense. 🙂

Seriously, my idea of adventure is speaking in public or playing a board game that I just might lose (which describes about any game in existence). Of course, I will now contradict myself and say that despite my lack of adventure, I absolutely love theme parks, including roller coasters that go upside down!

Now, are you good and confused? Good! I like it that way! 😉

When I was 18, I went on a summer mission trip to California. I was way outside my shy comfort zone, but I realized that my comfort zone needed to shift. It was on this trip to California in 1996 that brought me out of my extreme shyness. So now I can say, “I used to be very shy. Now you can’t get me to stop talking!”

I used to be extremely shy! When I say “extremely” I mean it! When I was in early elementary school, I only talked to a hand full of  people. Everyone probably thought I was mute, except for one friend and my teachers.

Normally I would not answer roll call, but one day my teacher told me she would mark me absent if I did not answer, so I tearfully answered and continued to answer from then  on (what a smart teacher!).

Another time that same year, I pulled a tooth in the bathroom and came into the classroom with a piece of paper towel against my gums. I got into trouble for having it in my mouth. Without offering a reason for having the paper towel, I threw it away. It wasn’t until my friend told the teacher what was going on that she understood!

So, you may have gathered by now, that I was one of those students that would be dying to ask more questions, but never would because it was embarrassing to me. I just sat and hoped others asked the same questions I had. I was definitely ridiculously shy!

100 Things About Me – #9

Yesterday you learned that I was weird because I like to write. Today I will add that I also like to type, but typing is different from writing. I can enjoy typing my thoughts, but for some reason, I enjoy just sitting and typing pre-written jibberish on a page and also typing as something is dictated to me. Oh, no! More evidence that I am weird! Stay tuned for more!
